Footballing World Congratulates Team India as Cricket Team Breach Aussie 'Fortress' Gabba and Win Test Series

Team India scripted history as they inflicted a Test defeat on Australia at their ‘fortress’ Gabba, where they had been unbeaten since 1988, and won the Border–Gavaskar Trophy 2-1.

The Men in Blue had started the test series with an eight wicket defeat to Australia, and despite talks that India could face a whitewash, they remarkably turned things around, and won the series in style, breaching the Aussie fortress in the fourth and final test – a feat made more remarkable by the fact that India were without several key players.

Praises have been pouring in from across the globe following the historic win, and many in the footballing world also joined to congratulate Team India. Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Kerala Blasters, Harry Kane, Sunil Chhetri were among those praised Team India after they pulled off the improbable at Gabba.

Harry Kane tweeted, “Unbelievable test series win by @BCCI ! Every test match was exciting to watch! #IndiavsAustralia”, while Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri termed the victory one ‘to celebrate’ and the series one ‘to inspire’. “A victory to celebrate. A series to inspire. Take a bow Team India, for an incredible show of character – session after session. One of those performances that we’ll often run back to, when the chips are down. #AUSvsIND #TeamIndia,” Chhetri posted on Twitter.

Here’s how the footballing world congratulated and celebrated Indian Cricket Team’s historic achievement.
