Zlatan Ibrahimovic Subject to Ethnic Insult During AC Milan's Draw With Red Star Belgrade

AC Milan hitman Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reportedly been subject to ethnic insult in Belgrade on February 18.

The striker was an unused substitute as Milan drew 2-2 against Belgrade. But as Zlatan was seen sitting in the stands, he was abused by fans.

Footage shows a group of fans shout at the Swede at a largely empty Rajko Mitic Stadium and a rough translation, the tirade was: “You pus**, stinky balija, I fu** you in your mouth”

Ibrahimovic has Balkan roots as he has a Catholic Croatian mother and a Muslim Bosniak father who migrated to Sweden and the word “balija” is an on offensive, ethnic insult against people from Bosnia.

Zlatan did not react to any of the insults and simply sat and watched the action on the pitch.

AC Milan looked on course for an important win away from home when Theo Hernandez scored a penalty to put the Rossoneri 2-1 up in the 61st minute but the hosts, who were down to ten men, struck a late equaliser through Milan Paykov. The two sides will now play out the second leg at the San Siro next Thursday.

Ibrahimovic recently also condemned racism in any form after his angry clash with Romelu Lukaku.
